For many Filipino families, visiting Australia means time with loved ones: meeting a grandchild, celebrating a milestone or finally enjoying a holiday together.
If Australia is somewhere you expect to visit regularly, there is a visitor visa option worth understanding.
Australia’s Visitor visa (subclass 600), Frequent Traveller stream is available to eligible Philippine passport holders and can be granted with validity of up to 10 years. It is designed for frequent visits for tourism or permitted business visitor activities.
1. What does “up to 10 years” actually mean?
A longer visa validity can make repeat trips more convenient, but each visit still has limits.
| Feature | What it means |
|---|---|
| Visa validity | Up to 10 years, depending on the grant |
| Entries | Multiple visits while the visa remains valid |
| Each visit | A maximum of 3 months |
| Overall stay limit | No more than 12 months in any 24-month period |
Your visa grant letter confirms the dates and conditions you must follow. A short trip outside Australia does not erase the overall stay limit.
2. Who might find it useful?
Consider your actual travel plans. Do you anticipate regular family visits or several holidays over the coming years? Or are you planning just one trip?
A longer validity may be convenient, but the right application starts with your purpose of travel and circumstances—not simply the longest visa advertised.
3. What should you prepare?
Home Affairs recommends providing a clear explanation of your visit, supported by relevant documents. These may include:
- Your passport and previous travel history.
- Details of your intended activities or itinerary.
- Recent bank statements showing funds for your stay.
- An invitation from family or friends, if applicable.
- Evidence of reasons to return home, such as employment, study or family commitments.
The documents should tell a consistent story about your plans, funding and intention to visit temporarily. Previous Australian visas do not remove the need to provide supporting evidence for a new application.
4. Can you work in Australia with this visa?
This stream does not permit taking up employment in Australia. Permitted business visitor activities are limited and should not be confused with working for an Australian employer.
5. What about the application fee?
Check the current charge using the official Home Affairs Visa Pricing Estimator before applying. The department directs applicants to this tool, and additional expenses may apply. Paying an application charge does not guarantee approval or a full 10-year grant.
